Skills Counseling
As a skills counselor, the main purpose is to aid in client's treatment to recover and function at their optimal capacity by learning about their mental illness, empowerment, building self-esteem, and confidence, connecting with themselves and others, and gaining meaningful life by learning essential skills using a holistic approach and mainly CBT interventions.
Treatment Process
In a mental health/therapeutic setting, the therapist prescribes non-pharmaceutical interventions and recommendations for lifestyle changes to assist clients in returning to optimal functioning and recovery from their mental illness.

The skills Counselor’s role when a therapist refers a client to see a skills counselor is to help the client/individual start incorporating interventions and recommendations prescribed by modeling, cueing, and practicing beneficial skills toward their recovery.
