Case Management
Individual therapy is treatment one-on-one with the therapist, there are many different modalities that can be used to treat a client individually. Multicultural Counseling Center (MCC), mainly uses trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), but we also offer EMDR, CBT, DBT, CFTSI, among many others. MCC treats people of all ages, from children to elderly. MCC treats people from all backgrounds, and most of our therapists are bilingual.
individual therapy focuses in a therapeutic process that combines changes in habits, thoughts and in the ability of the client to discover the origin and the feelings that are being experienced.
Treatment process
The first session of therapy often focuses on gathering information - assessment. A therapist speaks with the person in treatment about their past physical, mental, and emotional health. It can take a few sessions for a therapist to have a good understanding of the situation. Only then can they address concerns and determine the best course of action.
When you come into our office for the first session you will be asked to fill out an intake packet. This packet will assist your therapist in understanding your needs and strengths. After you complete the packet you will be invited into the therapist's office, here you will meet your therapist and your therapist will begin the assessment process.
During the assessment process the therapist will ask you many questions about yourself, your family, your past and your present. This assessment will assist the therapist in determining your diagnosis, if you have one, and length of treatment.By the second or third session you will be working with your therapist to make your treatment plan. Your treatment plan will be your guide for treatment, it will include your goals and objectives. After the assessment and treatment plan are completed, the therapist will begin the interventions.
